Use the Extend Feature With Your DAW
The Extend feature analyzes your MIDI files and extends them in the same genre, key, and style. Read on to learn how the Extend feature complements your music production workflow to help you build music that fits.
STEP 1
Select Extend in the AI Instrument
- Click Upload and choose any MIDI file to extend
- Alternatively, drag and drop any MIDI file into the box
STEP 2
Adjust slider parameters to discover new musical possibilities
- Length (short, medium or long) determines the length of the extension
- Creativity controls how closely the AI Instrument follows your existing song. Turn it up for more unexpected ideas, or keep it low for repetitive results
STEP 3
Click Extend and witness your music transform

- Drag and drop your MIDI file into your DAW
- To extend a new file in the plugin version, you can drag and drop a MIDI file back into the Extend box, or press "Upload" to select a new file

How Can I Best Use the AI MIDI Extender?
Isolate your Sections
While Extend can read any length of music and help it grow, you may find more nuanced results by isolating specific sections into separate MIDI files and extending them individually. You may find that extending your chord progressions creates a new section that fits as a bridge, or that a few extra bars added to your melodies could add the intensity that your song finale needed.
Extend Individual Stems
For example, try isolating your drum track and uploading it separately to the AI MIDI Extender. You might be surprised by the creative ideas Extend comes up with then it's not influenced by the full song structure.
Work Together with Create
After using Extend, you may have a vision for where the track should go next. Try bringing your extended MIDI into Create and prompting it to add chord stabs on every beat, or to make a new chorus based on your bridge section.
